At the turn of the twelve century, afer having successfully rulled China, Mongolian invaded Dai Viet, Vietnam today. Three hundred thousand troops sailed to Halong Bay then Bach Dang River and Hanoi. At that time, General Tran Hung Dao order his people to planted alot of wood sticks in to the bed of Bach Dang river. The river it self was narrow but the water currents were extremely strong which made fleet of mogolian boat was out of control when reach the area as the result stucked in the wood sticks and sunk. Next to Bach Dang river is Halong Bay and today the traces of wood sticks was founded hidden in one of the stalagmite cave, Dau Go in Halong Bay.
Later on, craftsman ship from this area had a chance to take up the technologies to build a 40 meters-long wooden boat from sunk vessels originally built in China and fufilled the mission to constructed a Majestic Imperial Sailling Vessel for Emperor Le Thanh Tong 2 centuries later. |
